who we are

David is the newest member of Highway 1 and is the band's lead vocalist, and guitarist. He as lived in many places growing up as an Air Force "brat" . Then, like his father, he joined the Air Force. After leaving military service, he was an air traffic controller for the next 38 years. He has played with various Brevard bands, including Eclectic Mess, Afterglow,  2 Salty and the Stingrays.

He says he is a "burned out air traffic controller, guitar playing hippie". Welcome to Highway 1 David.

 "BAT" is the band's drummer and second vocalist. From New Jersey,  he brings a “Jersey Shore Beach Vibe” to the band. He has a  Degree in Music and

 taught music for 26 years. Bat has played with many NJ bands and has opened for Cheap Trick, Brooklyn Bridge,

Drifters and The Village People. 

In the 1980's, he was the drummer for Richie Balin and the TNP Band, supporting Richie's country record releases.

 Bat  plays a full drum set, electronic

 drums or a cajon/percussion set up. 

"Double D" plays bass, harmonica and adds his vocals to our sound.  He hails from Louisiana, where he was also a "military brat". He then spent 6 years In the Air Force before a 32 year career with the City of Cocoa Water Department. His musical beginnings were in junior high school where he played the tuba before switching to bass guitar. He has been laying down the bottom on bass plus providing  back up vocals and harmonic in local bands for the past 25 years, including Luna Sea, Payback Band and Squirrel Wind.
