OUR BACKSTORY

Joel Thomas, JT to most, was the founder of Highway 1, starting the band in 2011 and passing away in 2021. He thought of himself as an entertainer first and a musician second, which was evident in the band‘s performances. He led the band playing at outdoor festivals, tiki bars, corporate events and Parrothead parties  for over a decade. His legacy and Highway 1 continues to this day.

Patrick Dean took over lead vocals and guitar in 2021, passing away in 2026. He played a 12 string "Rick" and sang anything pop from the 1960's and 70's. In the 4+ years as a member of Highway 1, we played over 150 shows a year at private communities and organizations in addition to clubs, outdoor venues and restaurants. His contribution to the band is an integral part of Highway 1.
